Did You Know?

This is the video Principal Gregorius showed in chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009.

In response to a comment asking how this video was used and what the point of the chapel devotion was, Principal Gregorius graciously provided the following explanation:

"The final words of the video were “What does this all mean?” My response is that “We should fear and love God” Fear and love God for all He has done for us. Given us all these things, technology, facts, education, etc to use now while we are here on earth for His glory.
We should fear and love God…..for allowing us to be here at WLA right now …..for a Christ-centered education. Christ-centered is what its all about. We may have all these other things….we can go other places for an education. But a Christ-centered education right here right now is what it all means. For that …we should fear and love God.
We should fear and love God for sending his Son to pay for our sins. This is what it all means. You can have the best technology, the best education, the best….. BUT…What does this all mean…THIS ALL MEANS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US.
That was basically my three points I was getting across. Hope this helps!"

  1. I just ran across your blog today.

I saw a similar video in a Lutheran devotion this past spring.

The presenter at that function did not do a good job of presenting a Gospel message.

Can you talk a little bit about how this video was incorporated into the chapel service?

I only ask, because I left scratching my head after the devotion I witnessed.

I trust this principal got it right. I am just looking for the gist of his talk.

    Thanks!

  2. Iggy, thanks for the comment! The main point he was trying to drive home to the student body of our Lutheran high school was that the Christian's response to this video and this information should be "to fear and love God" (meaning, there is so much going on in the world and going so fast that the only thing which stays constant and never changes ad is always reliable is God and his Word). I'll contact my principal and ask if he can send me his devotion and if I can link it here so you can read it.

  3. My principal just wrote back to me...

    "Morning,

  4. The video (in the context of the presentation) was a good springboard to the Small Catechism's question, "What does this mean?"

The response to the first commandment is, "We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things." The response to the rest of the commandments begins, "We should fear and love God..."

Thanks for the wonderful catechism reminder this morning!
